I’m thrilled when I get to work with fellow creatives! Sam got in touch after seeing how I’d photographed another business, specifically this blog post for Farley’s cool hair salon. Sam is a designer who graduated from London, Central Saint Martins and is the brains behind Darkest Star. She is at the very front of each creation and its manufacture. Quality, precision and dedication went into developing her own label of erotic lingerie designs (now I have your attention?) The items are very much about empowering women and sexuality. Sam needed some photos of herself, but liked how I also portrayed the business too. I was honoured and flattered as she explained, “I love your work and just know you are the one to capture me”. When I find a designer or product I like, I want to know what their workspace is like, and of course love it all the more, for being hand crafted with love and dedication in this country! So me and my camera snooped about Sam’s Hitchin studio one day, and found things that intrigued and engaged, things that explained her, that showed not just a beautiful woman, but an empowered talented designer, maker and craftsperson. It was a pleasure!
Sam’s perfect make up for these photos was expertly applied by the lovely Sarah May Stubbins. Do check her out too.
