A church wedding and a secret reception venue in bluebell woods. Verity and James chose a church wedding in Lemsford, which is the family church, very few people knew what would greet the guests, as they were all ferried by tractor to an amazing wedding party in some private woods. When we first met up for a pre wedding shoot and chat, I realised how amazing they were and just how important the day was for them both. I met their horses and the dogs Hoggy and Bex, and was enthralled when James showed me bits of an amazing Geodisic dome that he was making for the wedding bar. In fact everything was made by them. James made his own wedding band, a cake stand, the bar in the dome, centrepiece and Verity stitched masses of bunting, including fabric with horses on and some of Jame’s old shirts and ski resort themed table plan even the table names from Verity’s horses’ shoes! A true massive project, which was kept quiet from almost everyone. Verity’s dad mentioned this in his speech “Isn’t it exciting!?” She had told him, as she explained their dreams for turning their friend’s wood that had no road access into their dream wedding location. They not only built the dome, but also cleared a road through, laying hardcore down so that caterers and the yurt could be placed just where they wanted it. They hoped and dreamed that their date would coincide with bluebells in the wood. It was spectacular to see. Guests were ferried by tractor to the location and the couple themselves drove right through a path made in the bluebells on their quadbike. This was a party of celebration of love, determination and faith! Verity’s parents were understandably very proud, that showed, and the welcome I received as photographer was so genuine and touching. Their two dogs wandered around the woods and even joined Verity and James on the dancefloor. I have never seen such a packed yurt of happy guests, happy for this lovely couple to be married and start a new part of their life together.. I’ll let you see the photos…
