Hitchin Lavender. Those two words seem to fit together so well, there have been lavender fields in the town since the 1500’s! I’m lucky to live in this amazing countryside, with this fantastic Lavender field on my doorstep. People travel from miles to see it, and I love photographing here every year! Evie and Ethan’s Dad booked me for a surprise shoot with his two lovely children. I love that ‘Bear’ became part of the shoot too! Their Dad hoped the children could keep quiet about our trip up to Hitchin Lavender, and then present his wife with some prints of the children for her birthday. We had an amazing time, the sky was perfect, the bees buzzed happily but didnt bother us. The lavender was, as ever glorious. What I probably loved most on this particular shoot, aside from that perfect mass of purple, was that the siblings were just themselves, the images show their spirit and their happy inquisitive nature. Something which as a parent myself, I love to see in photos of my own children. If you haven’t been, you really must plan a visit next Summer, there is a great cafe with delicious food. Oh and they managed to ‘Keep Mum’ So now she knows, I’m able to share these photos in the perfect English Summer beauty of this field of Lavender. Flowering time is mid July, so to book me for a shoot, just get in touch!
